Rescue Support Program

Litter shouldn't be the reason you say no.

Every rescue we've met runs on the same math: too many cats, not enough budget, and litter is one of the few costs you can't skip. We can’t make that cost disappear — but we can take a piece of it off your hands every month, for good. If you rescue cats in British Columbia, Cattus will send you litter and essentials on a schedule you can plan around, free, for as long as you need it.

Why We Do This

We already do this — we're just opening it up

Cattus has been quietly supporting a local rescue group with regular litter deliveries for a while now. It works, it costs us less than we expected, and it does more good than any ad we could have bought with the same money.

So we're turning it into a real program with a real process, instead of something you'd only find out about if you happened to know us. If you're doing the work, we'd like to help carry it.

  • No cost, everThis is a donation, not a discount. There's no invoice, no minimum, and nothing to pay back.
  • Monthly and predictableSame delivery window each month, so you can plan your supply run around it instead of hoping.
  • Scales with your intakeKitten season doubles your cats? Tell us — we'll push the drop up as far as we can for those months.
What's In The Drop

What we send every month

Litter is the backbone of the program — it's what we make, and it’s the cost rescues tell us hurts most. We won’t pretend one drop feeds a whole busy month — but it’s a steady chunk you’ll never have to budget for or ask twice about. Beyond that, we share whatever we’re carrying and can spare.

NookPaw cat litter

Tofu or tapioca, 2.5 kg bags — your choice, or a mix. Plant-based, flushable, low-dust, and safe around kittens.

Other essentials we carry

As our catalog grows, so does what we can share. If we stock it and have surplus, rescues get first call on it.

Delivery to your door

We're already driving Metro Vancouver every week. We'll add you to the route — or you can pick up from our warehouse.

Go-home sample bags

Sample bags for your adoption kits, so new families start with litter their cat already knows and one less thing to buy.

The Process

Five steps, about a week

We've kept this deliberately light. You're already buried in paperwork — applying for litter shouldn't add more.

1

Send us the form

Fill in the short application at the bottom of this page — who you are, roughly how many cats you have in care, and where you're based. Five minutes, and you don't need to prepare anything in advance.

Day one
2

We have a quick chat

A short call or email thread — usually fifteen minutes. We want to understand how your rescue runs, what you actually go through in a month, and whether litter is even the most useful thing we can give you.

Within 2 business days
3

We build your monthly plan together

We agree on the volume, which litter suits your setup, whether you want delivery or pickup, and which week of the month works best for you. Then we write it down so nobody has to re-negotiate it every month.

Same week
4

Your first delivery arrives

We drop it at your shelter, foster coordinator's address, or wherever your supplies live. After that it repeats on the same schedule — you don't need to ask again, chase us, or re-apply.

Your chosen week, every month
5

We check in and adjust

Every few months we ask one question: is this still the right amount? Intake spikes, fosters come and go, and kitten season changes everything. The plan should move with you.

Quarterly
Who Qualifies

You're probably eligible

We've kept the bar low on purpose. You don't need charity status or a storefront — you need to be genuinely doing the work.

  • Registered rescues & societiesNon-profits and registered animal welfare societies operating in BC.
  • Volunteer-run rescues & foster networksNo formal registration needed if you have an established track record we can verify.
  • TNR and community cat programsTrap-neuter-return groups and colony caretakers are absolutely included.
  • Based in British ColumbiaDelivery is easiest in Metro Vancouver, but talk to us if you're further out — we'll find a way.
What We Ask

Almost nothing in return

This isn't sponsorship with strings. There's no contract, no exclusivity, and nothing stopping you from accepting help from anyone else.

  • Tell us roughly how many cats it helpsA number once a quarter. It's how we decide how much to grow the program next year.
  • Tag us if you happen to postGenuinely optional. It helps other rescues discover the program, which is the only marketing we want from it.
  • Give us a heads-up if things changeMoving, pausing intake, or suddenly taking in twenty kittens — just let us know so we can adjust.
  • That's the whole listNo fees, no reporting packets, no logo placement requirements, no renewal applications.

Where the litter goes today

We're already running monthly deliveries to a local cat rescue group here in the Lower Mainland — and we have room to add more. If you're reading this and running a rescue, that means you.

“At the start of every month, a delivery turns up at their door — no reminder needed, no invoice, no paperwork. It isn’t their whole month’s worth; we’re still small. But it’s a few less bags to find the money for, and a little more of the week left over for the cats. That’s the part we’re proudest of.”

Questions

Things rescues ask us

None. It's a donation from us, not discounted wholesale. You won't get an invoice and you're not expected to pay anything back at any point.

We set that together on the intro call, based on how many cats you have in care and how many boxes you’re running. We’ll be straight with you though: this is a contribution toward your litter, not your whole supply — we’re a small company, and we’d rather commit to an amount we can hit every single month than promise big and then quietly cut back on you.

Yes. Registration isn't required — plenty of the best rescue work in BC happens without it. We just need to be able to verify you're active, whether that's through references, your socials, or a vet clinic that knows you.

Our delivery routes cover Metro Vancouver, so that's where this is easiest. If you're elsewhere in BC, apply anyway — we can often arrange shipping or coordinate a pickup when someone from your group is in the city.

Of course — the two are completely separate. Some rescues take the monthly donation and also buy extra at wholesale rates to resell at fundraisers. See the wholesale page for pricing.

Just tell us. Rescues have quiet months and chaotic ones. Pausing and restarting is a two-line email, not a new application.
